Tips from Labor & Delivery Nurses and Midwives

From 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, the UAB Medicine Women & Infants Center’s experienced labor and delivery nurses and midwives will share essential tips and advice. Expect to learn about various labor stages, pain management options, and creating a birth plan that suits your needs. This session will offer practical guidance and address common concerns.

Meet with the Mother Baby Unit Nursing Team

At 11:30 AM, the Mother Baby Unit IBCLC Lactation (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) nurses and the Mother Baby nurses will be available to discuss postpartum care. This session will cover what to expect during your hospital stay, the benefits of skin-to-skin contact, and the support available for breastfeeding. The team will also address the importance of maternal mental health and the resources available for managing postpartum depression. Engaging with these compassionate professionals can help ease your transition into parenthood and provide you with peace of mind.

Safe Infant Sleep Demonstration

Starting at 12:30 PM, the Safe Infant Sleep Demonstration will teach you how to create a safe infant sleeping environment for your baby. The session will cover essential topics such as the safest infant sleeping positions, choosing the right crib, and avoiding hazards like loose bedding and toys. These guidelines are crucial for reducing the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and ensuring your baby sleeps soundly and safely.

Perinatal Nurse Navigators

Throughout the event, perinatal nurse navigators will be available to answer your questions and provide personalized guidance. These specialists are dedicated to helping you navigate your pregnancy and postpartum journey with confidence. They can assist with everything from prenatal care options to postpartum recovery, ensuring you have the information and support you need every step of the way.
