Each session begins with a captivating story, followed by an engaging craft activity, all set against the stunning backdrop of the Gardens. Weather permitting, the gathering takes place in the picturesque Southern Living Garden, but in case of inclement weather, the Garden Center provides a cozy alternative. This program is thoughtfully designed to cultivate a love for reading, nurture artistic expression, and foster an appreciation for gardening. By participating, children not only gain the benefits of outdoor exploration but also develop a deeper connection with nature.

“All Together Now” Summer Reading Kickoff

The day commences with a spirited Bike Parade, where participants can showcase their creativity by decorating their bikes, trikes, scooters, or skateboards. As they parade around the park, the attendees become the stars of the show, spreading joy and laughter. The festivities continue with the invigorating Beatin’ Path Rhythm Drum Circle, a rhythmic experience that will have participants moving to the beat. Before bidding farewell, attendees are encouraged to sign up for Summer Reading and collect their goodie bags, setting the stage for a summer brimming with literary adventures.

Party for the Planet: Endangered Species Day

Throughout the day, visitors will embark on a journey around the zoo, discovering how the Birmingham Zoo collaborates with zoos, aquariums, and partners worldwide through AZA’s Saving Animals From Extinction (SAFE) programs. Interactive stations strategically placed throughout the zoo will highlight specific SAFE Species programs, shedding light on the vital work being done to safeguard animals in their native habitats. From captivating presentations to hands-on activities, participants will gain insights into the zoo’s commitment to conservation and learn actionable steps they can take to make a positive impact on endangered species, right from their own homes.
