Andrew Jackson’s Hermitage presents Unearthing History: Archaeology, a day of excavating and analyzing at Tulip Grove Mansion, former home of Rachel Jackson’s nephew. This program, in conjunction with TRC, is designed for youth between the ages of 13 and 17, who will have an opportunity to dig alongside archaeologist James Greene.

All attendees will be able to identify artifacts with the Collections team at The Hermitage, find out about previous archaeological digs at the site, and all diggers will receive a certificate of completion.

Digs are suited for five participants at a time and will happen every 15 minutes, beginning at 10 a.m. The last dig will happen at 1:45 p.m.

Tickets for youth wishing to dig are just $5 with the purchase of admission to The Hermitage and will be on a first-come, first-served basis the day of the event.

Please note: No restrooms will be available at the dig site.
