Orchids make wonderful gifts for anyone who wants to bring a
splash of color and interest into their home. But what happens after your
orchid is done blooming? How do you keep your beloved orchid alive so that it
will continue to flower year after year?
Repotting is one of the most important aspects of orchid care,
but it requires a different approach than you would take to repot most
houseplants. Join us for a demonstration on the basics of how to repot some of
the most common orchids. Along the way, you will learn what makes orchids
unique, and you will leave the class with the confidence you need to help your
orchids thrive for years to come.

About Matt Candeias:
Matt Candeias was born and raised in the forests of the Northeast. Matt holds an M.A. in community ecology from SUNY Buffalo State and a Ph.D. in ecology from the University of Illinois with extensive experience in plant taxonomy and identification, habitat restoration, and research. Matt is also passionate about science communication in botany and ecology and is the author of In Defense of Plants: An Exploration into the Wonder of Plants and the host of the “In Defense of Plants” podcast. When not reading, writing, or talking about plants, Matt can usually be found hiking and photographing plants or trying to grow them in and around his home.
