About

Parenting is a tough job and babies don’t come with user manuals. Lutheran Social Services’ Family Resource Centers have four locations two in Phoenix and two in Mesa, with staff who strive to create a welcoming non-judgmental space for all parents to gather, learn and thrive.

Whether this is your first child or fourth, a working or stay-at-home parent, a single, foster, grandparent, nontraditional or traditional parent, and no matter your income all resources and services FREE to all families.

Our goal is to support your family so you can THRIVE. We offer a variety of activities to engage all members of your family. When you and your baby are ready to head out into the world join us for our Parent and Child Infant Massage class where new parents learn how to use massage to help relax and bond with their baby.  Not ready to leave the house yet, join us for one of our virtual Parent Cafés and connect with a small group of other parents who share the same parenting experiences and struggles.

Are grandma and grandpa caring for your child while you work or go to school? They can enroll in Grand Connections. During these seven sessions of virtual classes, grandparents learn how to navigate their new role as a Grandparent/Caregivers. Each grandparent receives materials to use with their grandchild.

Do you need to bond with an older sibling who has not started Kindergarten? We have several parent and child classes to engage in hands-on learning experiences.

Raising A Reader: Enroll in our Raising A Reader program where your family will engage in literacy activities at the center and then exchange a book bag to read at home each week.

Play SPOT: We believe school readiness begins at birth and children learn through play. Parents and Children learn together in our Theme-based activities to promote school readiness from infancy – to kindergarten entry.

Zumbini: Created by Zumba® and BabyFirst for kids ages 0-4, the Zumbini® program combines music, dance, and educational tools for 45 minutes of can’t-stop, won’t-stop bonding, learning, and fun!
Kids in the Kitchen: A weekly Parent and Child class designed to encourage kids to try new foods. Parents and Children will prepare small snacks and identify new ways to cook as a family.

All Parents sometimes struggle when it comes to parenting. Do you wish you had someone to talk to who understood the same parenting challenges you are facing? Our Parent Support Groups are designed to help you connect with other parents and help you put the joy back into parenting.

Flourishing Families: Parents explore what makes them strong and flourish as individuals and parents. Each week parents gather to learn how to make small changes in their routines to make parenting easier and more fun. Parents also build strong bonds with other parents in the group to strengthen their personal support system.

Triple P: Parenting is part natural, and partly learned. In Triple P, parents explore how to build their own Positive Parenting Practices. Triple P gives parents real-life skills they can take home each week and put into practice to become the best parent.

We know that sometimes even the strongest families need a little help. Staff at LSS-SW FRC are here to support you when you need it. Each center has bilingual English/ Spanish staff, staff who can assist you to apply for food and health assistance, or help you find the right medical provider that meets the needs of your family.
