Sharing is Caring!

Chocolate Milk Mommies (CMM) has long been known as a terrific organization—and now they’re receiving some exciting recognition for it!

CMM is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to decrease the stigma surrounding breastfeeding in black communities. The group offers education and resources to help reduce health disparities, specifically reaching out to as many women as possible in low-income areas.

Chocolate Milk Mommies recently was awarded $20,000 as part of the 2019 Community Health Innovation Awards. The funds are to help the group provide peer-led home visits and hospital grade breast pump rentals to teach and support mothers and their family members about breastfeeding.

The Chocolate Milk Mommies’ 2nd Annual Baby Shower took place on Sat, February 1, 2020, from 3 pm to 5 pm. New or expecting black mothers, spouses, children, and support systems were invited to the event. Every mom had access to baby necessities and resources while being able to come together, relax, enjoy some food and make new friends.  Last year they hosted over 80 moms and expect that number to double this year.
