Being a new mom and breastfeeding can be a real challenge. As natural as breastfeeding is, it’s not always as easy as it may seem. Being able to talk to other moms who are breastfeeding and get their support and advice can be life-changing. There are several different breastfeeding support groups in Memphis available for mama’s to join and get the information and support they need. Check them out below and find the group(s) that are best for you!
Breastfeeding Support Group Round-Up
BSTARS is a Facebook page for breastfeeding support. The groups focus is to support, protect, and promote black women as they breastfeed. They hold monthly meetings that cover various topics for women who are pregnant and thinking about breastfeeding and moms who are currently nursing. Be sure to like and follow their page so you can start getting involved and find the support you need.
La Leche League of Memphis
La Leche League works worldwide to provide breastfeeding mothers with support and education. The La Leche League of Memphis holds two meetings a month. On the first Saturday of every month, they meet in the Misner Conference Room at Kroc Center from 10:30 AM – 12 PM. They also meet on the third Wednesday of every month in the meeting room at Olive Branch Library at 7 PM.

TN Breastfeeding Hotline
As a new mom in the world of breastfeeding, sometimes you’re going to have questions and you’re going to want them answered asap. The Tennessee Breastfeeding Hotline is available 24/7 for you to call and get any of the information you need. It’s staffed by International Board Certified Lactation Consultants, so you’re going to get accurate and up-to-date information for any questions you may have. Alternamamas of Memphis
Alternamamas is a private Facebook group that will require you to be accepted through an invitation to join. The group connects and offers support to parents who choose a more natural parenting style. While the group does offer breastfeeding support, you’ll also find support for other things like babywearing, home birthing, cloth diapering, and more. Breastfeeding Moms of Memphis
Breastfeeding Moms of Memphis is another private Facebook group you’ll have to request to join. To join the group you’ll have to be trying to conceive, already pregnant, already have a baby, or adopting. The group connects moms with each other and offers support and education for different breastfeeding topics. To learn more about the group and request to join, click here.
MOMS Support Group
The Mothers of Methodist Support (MOMS) group is provided by the Methodist Hospital. New moms are able to share their thoughts and ideas, ask any questions, and offer support to other new moms. The group meets on the first Tuesday of every month from 12:30 – 2:30 PM in Classroom 2 at the Methodist Germantown Hospital Pavilion.
