The Taste of Homewood event is an annual food festival organized by the Homewood Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by The Homewood Star. The event offers an opportunity to sample unlimited food from over 25 restaurants, beer and wine, live music, and a silent auction. Ticket sales have started, and you can get your tickets for $30 in advance or $40 at the door. AABCO Party Rentals and CBS 42 are the event’s supporting sponsors.

Storytime at the Gardens

Storytime at the Gardens allows parents and preschoolers to enjoy a story and a creative craft session in a beautiful outdoor setting. The event occurs in the Southern Living Garden, weather permitting, or the Garden Center. The program is designed to encourage a love of reading, creativity, and gardening while benefiting from the beauty of the Gardens and being outdoors. Vocabby’s World: Play it Again Sam! is an engaging and educational program for children, organized by ArtPlay in partnership with Vocabby’s World®️ and sponsored by the PNC Foundation. Children will learn new vocabulary words during the event through song, movement, and creativity. Vocabby’s World is a community vocabulary program that takes children on adventures around the World as they learn new vocabulary words through science and art concepts. ArtPlay provides hands-on activities, free books, curriculum, and art materials to reinforce the vocabulary learned. It’s an excellent opportunity for children to expand their vocabulary while having fun.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade at the 5 Points South is an exciting event that offers fun activities for children. The Kids’ Lucky Zone will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature various activities like face painting and balloon twisting by Starshine Faces, mini animals from Wendy’s Mini, and caricature drawings by Kevin. The Lucky Zone will be situated on the corner of Filter Coffee Parlor and The Original Pancake House. Children can participate in these activities while enjoying the festive atmosphere of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. It’s an excellent opportunity for families to spend quality time together and have fun.

Salute to Women of the Negro Leagues

The Salute to Women of the Negro Leagues event by the Negro Southern League Museum is an exciting celebration that honors the women who played a significant role in the Negro Leagues. Visitors can look forward to the unveiling of the Women of the Negro League exhibit, special performances by the Make It Happen Theatre Co. and a range of fun activities for the entire family. The NSLM mascot, Barry the Bear, will also appear. Aside from that, visitors can enjoy food trucks, music, popcorn, coke, a story corner, and more. It’s an opportunity to learn about the legacy of women in the Negro Leagues and enjoy a fun-filled day with the family.
