About Babypalooza

Founded in 2004 by Cecilia Pearson, Babypalooza has evolved from a local magazine in Birmingham, Alabama into a nationwide platform dedicated to addressing the maternal and infant health crisis in the United States. Through a combination of in-person baby expos, virtual events, and educational resources, Babypalooza aims to reduce preventable infant and maternal deaths by providing critical education and support.

“Our mission goes beyond hosting baby expos,” says Pearson. “We’re focused on delivering life-saving education and connecting families with vital resources that can make a real difference in maternal and infant outcomes.”

Key Facts:

  • Hosts over 12 annual in-person expos across the US from Alabama to Arizona
  • Launched virtual events in 2020, reaching a national audience
  • Partners with major healthcare providers and baby product manufacturers
  • Offers BabypaloozaU, an online learning hub for new and expectant parents

Babypalooza’s unique approach combines education with engagement, ensuring that critical information reaches all caregivers involved in a child’s life. The expos feature expert-led seminars, product demonstrations, and access to healthcare providers, all in a family-friendly atmosphere.

“We’ve found that by making education fun and accessible, we can reach more families and have a greater impact,” Pearson notes. “It’s not just about products; it’s about empowering parents with knowledge that can save lives.”

In response to racial disparities in maternal health, Babypalooza also produces the Black Maternal Health Expo, focusing on the specific needs and challenges faced by Black mothers. Nadia Gramby, LM, Certified Professional Midwife and frequent Babypalooza speaker, states: “The educational component of these expos is crucial. Many postpartum complications are preventable with proper knowledge and support. Babypalooza is filling a critical gap in our healthcare system.”
