Having a baby around provides so much joy but as they continue to grow, it can be hard to keep them entertained and find ways to promote their development. And when we say hard, we mean hard. It can be stressful searching the Internet hoping to find anything that will be fun for your baby or toddler. In most cases, mommy and me classes are a perfect solution. They allow you to go out and socialize with other parents while your little one gets to have some fun designed just for them.
Luckily, Memphis has plenty of different mommy and me classes available around the city for you to check out and enjoy. Ranging from the arts to music to exercise, there’s something for every parent and child to enjoy. So, check them out below and find the one(s) best for you!
Mommy and Me Classes Round-Up
The Art Project offers Art Free Play & Storytime for kids. This space allows you to spend some personal time with your child or you can hang out and relax while they’re at work. Storytime and crafts are every Tuesday and Friday at 10 AM. You’ll enjoy a good book then do a fun project that relates to it afterward.
Art Free Play is $16 per child for non-members and free for members. Reservations aren’t required, but they are encouraged. You can book your time here or by calling 901-425-3434.
The Dixon Gallery and Gardens offers two different options for mommy and me classes.
The Sprouts class is for ages 12 – 24 months and is on Thursday’s from 10:30 – 11:30 AM. In this class, you and your little one will explore the Dixon with all of your senses, work on social and motor skills, and fun through creative play. This is a drop-in program that is free for members and $8 for non-members.
The Mini Masters class is for ages 2 – 4 and is on Tuesday’s from 10:30 – 11:15 AM. This is a workshop designed to help your toddler explore shapes, textures, and colors through art-making. Each class includes storytime, a hands-on activity, and a snack. It is free for members and $8 for non-members. Registration is required, so to claim your spot call 901-761-5250.
Toddler Sensory Play at The Children’s Museum of Memphis is designed for children under 4 years old. Activities during this time will stimulate your senses: touch, smell, taste, movement, balance, sight, and hearing.

The Memphis Botanic Garden offers the Caterpillar Club for parents with children 5 and under. You and your child will share stories, play games, make crafts, and explore nature. It’s one of the few preschool programs in Memphis that allows your little one to discover the great outdoors with hands-on activities.
The club meets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10 – 11 AM. Spaces are limited so book your spot by calling 636-4122.
The Baby and Me class held in the Barbara K. Lipman Early Learning Center at Temple Israel offers a great parent-child bonding experience. Interact with your baby by singing songs and participating in different activities. Your little one will learn listening skills with rhymes, clap their hands to different rhythms, and ring the welcome bell.
This class is offered on Thursday mornings from 10 – 11 AM for children under 2 and is a great way to meet other moms. You don’t need a Temple Israel membership to attend. Enrollment is free, you’ll just need to register and show proof of immunization.
Kindermusik uses the power of music to enhance your child’s development. Through storytimes, instrument play, music, and more, your baby will be able to work on their communication, emotional development, sensory awareness, fine motor skills, musical ability, and cognition.

Music for Aardvarks combines song, dance, and rhythm to provide you and your little with a-rockin’ good time. They are mixed-age classes that range from 6 months to 5 years. Activities include sing-a-longs, rhythm making, dance breaks, and jam sessions. Classes are once a week and last 45 minutes. A 10 week semester of the class is $195. The Peanut Butter and Jam family series at the Germantown Performing Arts Center introduces children 8 and under to a variety of different genres including music, dance, and multicultural arts in an informal concert setting. Fit4Mom offers two different exercise classes that allow you to bring your little one along with you.
Stroller Strides is a one-hour, total body workout made up of strength training, cardio, and core restoration. You’ll also entertain your baby the whole time with different songs and activities.
Stroller Barre is a one-hour cardio and strength class that will help your posture, stability, and mobility. It combines moves inspired by barre, ballet, Pilates, fitness, and yoga.

The Little Gym offers parent-child classes for parents with littles from 4 months to 3 years old. They promote early child development like fine motor skill development, color recognition, language development, sharing, and more! And with you by their side, they’ll have a cheerleader celebrating their achievements all along the way.
